Panoramic Black Forest Cycle Tour

For those who want to discover more of the Black Forest and even more panoramic views, this approx. 280-kilometre-long ADFC (German National Cyclists’ Association) ‘Quality Route’ takes you from Pforzheim in the north and over beautiful peaks on the eastern side of the Black Forest into the Rhine Valley to Waldshut-Tiengen.

The ADFC ‘Quality Route’ takes you all the way through the Black Forest and boasts a total altitude of 2,100 or 2,400 metres. These heights are easy to manage and spread over the entire route (you can make up 300 metres in altitude on the Sommerberg mountain by taking the funicular railway). The highlight of this cycle route, as the name suggests, are the stunning views that you will be rewarded with at the top.

Starting in Pforzheim, the first stage takes you through the Northern Black Forest all the way to Freudenstadt. On this stage you’ll also have to overcome the biggest difference in altitude.

But you can avoid the steep climb on an alternative route: without any physical exertion, you can cover 300 metres in altitude by taking the Sommerberg mountain funicular railway in Bad Wildbad. At the top, the tour will then take you, with moderate inclines, onto the Höhenradweg West cycle track to Kaltenbronn, past the Hohloh lake to Seewald-Besenfeld. The route then continues largely on the plateau between Black Forest peaks and the Swabian Alb, until finally leading downhill from Titisee to the Rhine Valley. If you wish, you can take the train back to Pforzheim from Waldshut-Tiengen or continue cycling along the Rhine Valley cycle route to Basel in a northerly direction. Check out the Panoramic Black Forest Cycle Tour for further information, such as a great selection of offers with luggage transport. So what are you waiting for? Hop on your bike and pedal your way to the ultimate Black Forest experience!
